Before you start

  • Stripe holds the card details.
  • Only the owner can change the card.
  • A new card can pay a failed invoice.
Steps

Open Payment.

SettingsAccountPayment

Payment, on the Account tab.
The same on a phone.

You will see Your cards, with the default marked.

Add or change the card.

Add a card, then make it the default

You will see The new card is used from now on.

If something is off

I cannot see Add a card
Only the owner can change the card.
My card was declined
Add another card, then pay the open invoice.
Can I pay by invoice or transfer
Write to support for anything but a card.

Common questions

Does CommentWatchDog store my card details?

No. Stripe holds the card; CommentWatchDog shows only its brand, the last four digits and the expiry, under Payment on the Account tab.

When will a new card I add be charged?

At the next bill, and for any open invoice you pay. Add it under Payment on the Account tab and make it the default.

Where do I change the company name or tax ID on invoices?

Under Billing details on the Account tab, once a plan has started. New invoices carry them.

Context: Cards are added and changed on the Account tab. Stripe holds the card details; CommentWatchDog only shows the brand, the last four digits and the expiry.

Before you start

1. Stripe holds the card details, not CommentWatchDog.

2. Only the owner can add or change a card.

3. A new card can also pay an open invoice after a failed payment.

Steps

Step 1 of 2: Open Payment.

Where: Settings, Account. The Payment line shows the card on file, with Add a card or Manage next to it.

You should see: Your cards, with the default marked.

Step 2 of 2: Add or change the card.

Where: Add a card, enter it, and make it the default; remove the old one from the same list. The default card is the one charged.

You should see: The new card is used for the next bill, and for any open invoice you pay.

If something is off

Problem: I cannot see Add a card

Fix: Only the owner can change the card. Ask them.

Problem: My card was declined

Fix: Add another card, then pay the open invoice from the Account tab.

Problem: Can I pay by invoice or transfer

Fix: Plans are paid by card. For anything else, write to support.
