Some accounts now see a switch to turn comments off; most do not, and turning them off also removes the questions and the social proof you paid for. Meta publishes what it removes from the ad system itself. Nothing in those reports touches the comments under a legitimate ad; that space is the advertiser's. Here is what lands there, from one ad's first hour.

For most advertisers, no. Meta's help page says anyone who can see your ad can comment on it. Some accounts see a comment control in Ads Manager for certain objectives and formats. If you do not have it, hiding and moderating is the way, and it keeps the questions and the social proof that turning comments off would remove.

In Ads Manager, open the Ads tab, click Edit under the ad, choose More options, then Manage Facebook comments. Notifications on Facebook show them too. CommentWatchDog lists every ad's comments in one inbox, with the ad's name on each row.
