Tag people by what they did
Free for 7 days, no credit card required
A tag is a label that outlives the chat. Add or remove tags at any step, then find those people in People, see the tags in the inbox, and branch any other flow on them.

One tag, never three
Tags are only useful when the same people carry the same tag. The picker keeps them that way while you type.
- Near misses caught
- A tag that looks like one you have is offered back before a new one is made.
- Spelling never splits a tag
- Capitals, spaces, hyphens and underscores all read as the same tag.
- Your tags, one tap away
- Search your tags or type a new one; the ones you already use are listed under it.
Add tags
“new roats” looks like “new-roast”.
Use new-roastCreate “new roats” anyway
Your tags

Every setting, in the editor’s words
The labels you will see in the app, what each one does, and the rule behind it.
The step
Its settings, in the inspector’s words.
- Add tagsAdd several at once
One Tag step can add any number of tags: type one and press Enter, or pick from your tags.
A tag name is up to 40 characters.
- Remove tagsAnd take others away
The same step removes tags too, so “lead” can replace “first-timer” in one move.
- Before or after the chat opens
Tag is an action, so it works anywhere in a flow, on Instagram and Messenger, even on a commenter who never taps.
What a tag is for
A label on the person that outlives this chat.
- Tagged “new-roast”Any condition, in any flow
Every condition can check a tag, Tagged or Not tagged, so a vip tag set here changes what every other flow does for them. See conditions.
- Contact tagsIn People and the inbox
Tags show on the person in People, where you can filter by them, and in the inbox’s contact panel, so a teammate picks up where the flow left off.
- One name, one tag
“From Guide”, “from-guide” and “from_guide” are one tag, and a near miss is caught before a second tag is born: “new roats” looks like “new-roast”.
- Renamed everywhere
Rename a tag in People and it changes everywhere it is named, flows included, all or nothing; rename it to one you have and the two merge. A tag still in use cannot be deleted.
The Tag step, as you set it
On the Tasting bookings flow: everyone who answers how many are coming is tagged tasting. The panel adds and removes tags in one step.
- Add tags
- Type a tag, or pick one you already use.
- Remove tags
- Take a tag off in the same step.
Every tag, in People
People lists every tag on your account: how many people carry it, the flows that set it, and when it was last used. Open one to see those people.
- Set by
- The flow that gave it, or By hand.
- People
- How many carry it now.
The numbers behind it
What a Tag step allows.
| What | The limit | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Tags in one step | Any number to add, any number to remove | CommentWatchDog |

| Same tag, different spelling | Capitals, spaces, hyphens and underscores read as one tag | CommentWatchDog |
| Contacts you can tag | Unlimited, on every plan | CommentWatchDog |

All numbers are CommentWatchDog’s own; Meta sets no rule on tags.
Questions about tags
What people ask before they label contacts.
Add a Tag step to a flow where the tag should be given: after a comment, after a button tap, after they answer a question. Everyone who reaches the step gets the tag, and it shows on their contact in People.
Yes. Add tags and Remove tags sit in the same step, so you can swap “first-timer” for “lead” in one move.
On each contact in People, where you can filter by a tag, and in the inbox’s contact panel beside the chat. Any condition in any flow can also check them. See contacts and tags.
The picker catches it before a second tag is made: it says “new roats” looks like “new-roast” and offers to use the one you have. Capitals, spaces and hyphens never make a new tag either.
Yes, in People under Tags. The rename reaches everywhere the tag is named, flows included, or nothing changes; renaming it to a tag you already have merges the two. A tag still in use cannot be deleted.
Yes, on Instagram and Messenger alike, from any start.
