The short version

  • Five cookies, all set by us: one keeps you signed in, one remembers your language, one recognises your browser on our sites, and two measure our own ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • No Google Analytics, no tag manager, no third-party analytics script anywhere on the site or in the app.
  • Ad measurement runs by default. One email leaves you out of it, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as that email.

This summary is for orientation only. The sections below are the policy.

1What this covers#

This policy covers the cookies and the browser storage used by commentwatchdog.com, the marketing site, and app.commentwatchdog.com, the product, both operated by GrowMeOrganic LLC. It completes sections 11 and 12 of the Privacy Policy, which remain the binding text on what we collect and why.

A cookie is a small text record a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage (local storage and session storage) is a similar place a page can keep values, which the browser never sends by itself.

2The cookies we set#

Every cookie below is a first-party cookie: our own servers set it for commentwatchdog.com, and nobody else can read it. There are no others.

CookieWhat it doesLasts
cwd_vidA random identifier that recognises your browser on our sites, so we can understand which pages and sources bring people to the Service and support you when you sign up. Set on your first page view, on the site and in the app. Never readable by scripts.400 days, renewed on each visit
sift_sessionKeeps you signed in to the app. Set when you sign in, removed when you sign out. Never readable by scripts.30 days
NEXT_LOCALERemembers the language you chose in the app, so the next page opens in it.Until you close the browser
_fbpAd measurement: a random identifier the Meta Pixel reads, so that a sign-up or a purchase can be matched to one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram. Set by our servers.90 days, renewed on each visit
_fbcAd measurement: the click identifier from the Meta ad that brought you here, kept so the visit can be matched to that ad. Set by our servers only when you arrive from a Meta ad.90 days, renewed on each visit

What the ad measurement sends, who receives it and why is in section 12 of the Privacy Policy. The cookies that keep you signed in and remember your language are needed for the Service to work; the other three are not, and section 5 says how to be left out.

3Browser storage#

Your browser keeps a few values for us that are never sent on their own and hold nothing about the pages, comments or messages you moderate:

  • On the marketing site: your language, so the site opens in it next time; your country and the day's exchange rates, so the pricing page can show an approximate price in your currency for a day without asking again; the corner, size and playback speed you chose for the film's player, so it opens the same way next time; a copy of the visitor identifier, so a browser that lost its cookie is recognised again; and, for one visit, the address you arrived at and the page that sent you, so the first page you saw is recorded correctly.
  • In the app: the workspace you last opened, the view you left a screen in, whether you dismissed a welcome message, whether the app is installed on your home screen, and a small entry our error monitoring uses to stitch together what happened on a screen when an error occurred (with every text masked).

Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it. Nothing breaks: the app asks again for what it needs.

4Third parties on our pages#

Four third parties can receive something from your browser while you use our pages. None of them sets a cookie on commentwatchdog.com.

  • Meta. The Meta Pixel script loads from Meta's servers on our pages and sends the events described in the Privacy Policy. If you are signed in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, those requests carry Meta's own cookies for facebook.com, under Meta's Cookies Policy. We do not use the Pixel at all for visitors in Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Turkmenistan.
  • Cloudflare. The sign-in and registration forms of the app show a small bot-protection widget from Cloudflare. It loads from Cloudflare's servers, receives your IP address and browser details, and may keep its own values inside that widget to tell people from bots.
  • Stripe. You pay and manage your card on Stripe's own pages, not ours. Stripe sets its cookies there, on stripe.com, under Stripe's cookie policy.
  • Directories. The "Featured on" badges in the footer are images loaded from the directories that list us. Loading them tells those sites your IP address and the page you are on.

The pricing page also asks a geolocation service for your country, once, when our own servers could not tell it, so that it can show a price in your currency. The service receives your IP address and nothing else, and sets no cookie.

We use no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no advertising network other than Meta, and no social media button that loads from a social network.

5Your choices#

  • Ad measurement: write to support@commentwatchdog.com and we leave you out. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as that request.
  • Your visit history: the same address deletes it on request.
  • Any cookie: your browser settings let you see, block and delete cookies for commentwatchdog.com. Blocking the sign-in cookie signs you out of the app.
  • Signing out removes the sign-in cookie at once.

6Changes#

This page changes when a cookie is added, removed or given a new purpose, and the date at the top moves with it. September 12, 2026: first version, describing the five cookies that sections 11 and 12 of the Privacy Policy have covered since September 12, 2026. Questions: support@commentwatchdog.com.
