Common questions

Does adding a teammate cost extra?

No, as long as your plan has a free seat. Starter includes 2 people, Growth 5, Pro 15 and Elite unlimited, counting you; Mini and Lite are for one person. During the trial you can invite as many as you like.

What is the difference between a manager and a moderator?

A manager runs moderation and replies on the pages they can see, and can change the rules. A moderator only acts on comments: hide, delete, reply, archive. Neither sees the Users tab or the Pages tab; those need an administrator or the owner.

Can I limit a teammate to one page?

Yes. Under Page access, check the specific pages they should see; leave every page unchecked to give them all of your pages, now and any you add later. Page access applies to managers and moderators; owners and administrators see every page.

Can I cancel an invitation before it is accepted?

Yes. Until they use the link, their row on the Users tab reads Invitation pending and you can revoke it from the same row. The old link stops working the moment you revoke it.

Guide: Invite your first teammate

This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/getting-started/invite-your-first-teammate

Topic: Getting started

Time: about 3 minutes

Who can do it: Owner or Administrator

Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)

Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/settings/users

Result when done: Someone else moderates with you, on the pages you choose, with only the powers their role allows.

Context: Teammates share your workspace and your pages. The role decides what someone can change; page access decides what they can see. Both can be changed later, and an invitation can be revoked before it is accepted.

Before you start

1. You are the owner or an administrator. Managers and moderators do not see the Users tab.

2. You need the email address they will sign in with. One email belongs to one workspace at a time.

3. Team members are included on every plan, so inviting someone costs nothing.

Steps

Step 1 of 4: Open Settings, then Users.

Where: In the left sidebar, the profile row at the bottom, then Settings, then the Users tab. On a phone: the menu button at the top left, the profile row at the bottom of the drawer, Settings, then Users in the row under the title.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/users-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)

You should see: Everyone already in the workspace, each with their role and the pages they can see, and the form to invite someone new.

Step 2 of 4: Enter their email and pick a role.

Where: Invite a teammate, on the right on a computer and under the list on a phone. Owner has everything, including billing. Administrator manages pages, rules and people but not billing. Manager runs moderation and replies on the pages they can see. Moderator only acts on comments: hide, delete, reply, archive.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/users-invite-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)

You should see: The role you choose is what they see when they sign in, and you can change it later from Edit.

Step 3 of 4: Choose which pages they can see.

Where: Page access, under the role. Leave every page unchecked to give them access to all of your pages, now and any you add later. Check specific pages to keep them to those, which is the usual choice for an agency, a freelancer or one brand in a group.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/users-invite-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)

You should see: Once they accept, their row shows All pages or the pages you picked.

Step 4 of 4: Send the invite.

Where: Send invite. They receive an email with a link that asks for their name and a password, and nothing else. Until they use it their row reads Invitation pending, and you can revoke it from the same row.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/users-invite.en.webp (Send invite.)

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/users-invite-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)

You should see: Invitation sent, and the person appears in the list as pending until they accept.

If something is off

Problem: They did not get the email

Fix: Ask them to check spam first. If it is not there, revoke the invitation and send a new one; the old link stops working the moment you revoke it.

Problem: That email already has an account or a pending invite

Fix: Each email belongs to one workspace at a time. Remove the pending invite, or ask them to use another address.

Problem: They can see pages I did not give them

Fix: Page access applies to managers and moderators. Owners and administrators see every page by design.

Problem: I need to change what someone can do

Fix: Edit, next to their name. The change applies as soon as you save, and they do not need to sign in again.

Problem: Someone has left

Fix: Remove, next to their name. Their replies stay in the history, credited to them, and they lose access immediately.
