Guide: Add or remove tags

This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/flow-steps/add-or-remove-tags

Topic: Flow steps

Time: about 2 minutes

Who can do it: Owner, Administrator or Manager

Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)

Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox

Result when done: The person carries tags you can check, filter and export.

Context: Tag adds or removes tags on the person as they go through the flow: "lead" after they give an email, "vip" after a purchase answer, "guide sent" after the link. Tags show on the person in People, and a Condition can check them later, in this flow or another.

Before you start

1. One step can add and remove several tags.

2. A tag name is up to 40 characters.

3. It works anywhere in a flow, on both platforms.

Steps

Step 1 of 3: Add Tag to your flow.

Where: Open the flow (Automation, then the flow's row). In the Steps panel on the left, under Do (scroll the panel down), drag Tag onto the canvas, or select the step it should follow and click Tag. On a phone: Add step at the top left of the canvas, then Tag under Do.

You should see: The Tag card is on the canvas and its settings panel is open (a sheet on a phone).

Step 2 of 3: Add tags.

Where: Panel, Add tags: type a tag and press Enter. A name that looks like a typo of an existing tag is pointed out before a second tag is made.

You should see: The card names the tags it adds.

Step 3 of 3: Remove tags, if needed.

Where: Panel, Remove tags: the tags to take off the person at this step.

You should see: The card names the tags it removes.

If something is off

Problem: Pick at least one tag to add or remove

Fix: An empty Tag step does nothing. Add a tag, or delete the step.

Problem: Two tags that mean the same

Fix: Rename one into the other in People, under Tags: the two merge, and the rename reaches every flow that names it.

Common questions
