Find any comment: filters, search and sorting
You can narrow thousands of comments down to the handful you need, and get back to them later.
On this page
Before you start
- Filters apply inside the tab you are on.
- All six filters combine.
- The filtered view is in the URL: bookmark it or send it.
Open the filters.
The filter row above the list, or Filters on a phone
You will see The list narrows, and Clear filters appears.
Search for words or a person.
The search box above the list, then Enter
You will see Only comments that contain your words.
Change the order and the page size.
Sort, and Comments per page, at the end of the row
You will see The order changes and the pager shows your position.
Keep a view you use often.
Bookmark the address once the filters are set
You will see The bookmark reopens the same filtered view.
If something is off
- The list is empty after filtering
- Nothing matches in this tab; clear the filters or search another tab.
- My teammate sees a different result from the same link
- They may not have access to the page you filtered by.
- Search does not find a comment I can see
- Search matches the comment and the author, not your reply.
- The counts on the tabs do not match the list
- Tab counts are for the whole tab; the list obeys your filters.
Common questions
What filters does the CommentWatchDog inbox have?
Six: Page, Label, Visibility, Type, Replied and Date. Label is the moderation rule that caught a comment, Type is ads or organic posts, Visibility is visible or hidden. They combine, and they apply inside the tab you are on.
Can I share a filtered inbox view with a teammate?
Yes. Every filter lives in the address of the page, so you can bookmark it or paste it to a teammate who has access to the same pages. The link opens the inbox with those filters already applied.
Can I see only the comments left on my ads?
Yes. Set Type, in the filter row, to ads rather than organic posts. Comments that came in through an ad also carry an Ad chip under the author name.
How many comments does the inbox show on one page?
As many as you choose. Comments per page, at the end of the filter row, sets how many rows a page holds, and the pager at the bottom has first and last page, previous and next, and a box to jump to any page.

Context: The inbox has six filters, a search box, a sort order and a page size. They combine, they stay while you work, and they live in the address of the page, so a filtered view can be bookmarked or sent to a teammate.
Before you start
1. Filters apply inside the tab you are on: filtering the Inbox does not search the Archive or the Bin.
2. Filters combine: page and label and visibility and type and reply state and date, all at once.
3. The view is in the URL, so you can bookmark it or paste it to a teammate who has access to the same pages.
Steps
Step 1 of 4: Open the filters.
Where: The filter row above the list on a computer: Page, Label, Visibility, Type, Replied and Date. On a phone, the Filters button opens the same six as a sheet. Label is the moderation rule that caught a comment, Type is ads or organic posts, Visibility is visible or hidden.

You should see: The list narrows as you choose, and a Clear filters control appears with the number of filters in use.
Step 2 of 4: Search for words or a person.
Where: The search box above the list. It looks inside the comment text and the author name, in the tab you are on. Press Enter to run it. When nothing matches, the empty state offers to search the archive or the bin instead.

You should see: Only comments containing your words, with the search kept until you clear it.
Step 3 of 4: Change the order and the page size.
Where: Sort, at the end of the filter row: Newest first or Oldest first. Comments per page sets how many rows a page holds. The pager at the bottom has first and last page, previous and next, and a box to jump to any page.

You should see: The list re-orders and the pager shows which comments you are looking at out of the total.
Step 4 of 4: Keep a view you use often.
Where: Every filter is in the address of the page. Bookmark it once and it opens the same way tomorrow: for example every hidden comment on one page, or every comment on ads that still needs a reply.

You should see: The bookmark opens the inbox with those filters already applied.
If something is off
Problem: The list is empty after filtering
Fix: Nothing matches that combination in this tab. Clear filters, or use the offer in the empty state to search the archive or the bin.
Problem: My teammate sees a different result from the same link
Fix: Managers and moderators can be limited to certain pages, so a page filter they cannot see returns nothing for them.
Problem: Search does not find a comment I can see
Fix: Search runs in the tab you are on and matches the comment text and the author name, not the reply you wrote.
Problem: The counts on the tabs do not match the list
Fix: The tab counts are for the whole tab; the list obeys your filters. Clear filters to see them agree.
