Common questions

Does Build with AI publish the flow or send messages?

No. It only changes the canvas. Nothing is saved until you press Save, nothing goes live unless the live switch is on, and it never sends a message.

Can I give it a screenshot instead of words?

Yes. Paste, drop or attach images (up to 8 MB each) and it reads the flow in the screenshot and rebuilds it on the canvas.

Will it make up prices or links?

No. It writes messages from what your business already knows, and a link it does not have is left empty for you, marked as Left empty for you.

What does a build cost?

It uses AI credits by what the build really cost, and a call that failed costs nothing. One message never uses more than 100 AI credits.

Guide: Build a flow with AI

This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/flow-builder/build-a-flow-with-ai

Topic: Flow builder

Time: about 4 minutes

Who can do it: Owner, Administrator or Manager

Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)

Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox

Result when done: A flow built on the canvas from one sentence, every step shown with its reason, kept as a draft until you save it.

Context: Build with AI is a chat beside the canvas. Describe what should happen in your own words, or paste a screenshot of a flow, and it builds the flow on the canvas step by step, saying why it added each one. It writes the messages in your page's language from what your business already knows, leaves a missing link empty for you rather than inventing one, checks each way through the flow when it is done, and never saves, goes live or sends anything on its own.

Before you start

1. Build with AI comes with the flow builder, from Starter.

2. It uses AI credits by what each build really costs; one message never uses more than 100.

3. On the free trial, up to 60 builds a day; a paid plan has no daily limit.

Steps

Step 1 of 5: Open Build with AI.

Where: Build with AI is the first button in the bar at the top of the canvas, on a new flow and on one that already exists; on a phone, the same button without its label. On a new flow it also sits on top of the start picker (Describe your flow), and New automation opens with a box where you can describe the automation straight away.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-flow-phone.en.webp (Build with AI on a phone: the first button, without its label.)

You should see: A panel beside the canvas: What should this flow do?, a few ideas to tap, and the box at the bottom (Describe the flow you want…).

Step 2 of 5: Say what the flow should do, or tap an idea.

Where: The box at the bottom of the panel, Describe the flow you want…. Type it as you would tell a colleague, for example: when someone comments TASTING, ask how many people and which day, then hand it to my team. Enter sends, Shift+Enter starts a new line. The picture icon under the box attaches images (paste or drop them too): a screenshot of a flow is read and rebuilt. Above the box are ideas to tap instead: a keyword comment that gets the link in DMs, a greeting with a short menu for first messages, and an email ask for people who DM a keyword.

You should see: Working on it…, then each change appears in the chat with its reason (Set the start, Added: Private reply …) while the step lands on the canvas.

Step 3 of 5: Answer what it asks.

Where: It stops to ask when only you know the answer: which post a comment flow runs on (Open the start, then I picked it), or before it creates a new tag or field (Yes, or No, use my tags). The menu under the box, which reads Ask before creating, changes how often it asks: Ask before creating, Auto-create, or Bypass permissions (Shift+Tab switches). Even in Bypass permissions it never goes live and never sends.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-build-ai-ask-phone.en.webp (A question on a phone, with its answers to press.)

You should see: Your answer shows as You answered, and the build goes on from there.

Step 4 of 5: Read the turn, then keep it or undo it.

Where: The turn's first line sums it up: Worked for N s, the number of changes and the AI credits it used. It ends with one sentence on what it built and, when it wrote messages, the line Wrote the words with the steps it wrote for; when it has checked the flow it also says Checked each way through and Works as planned. Under the turn, Undo this turn puts the flow back as it was before that message; Show it on the canvas, on a change, jumps to that step; Stop ends a turn at any moment and keeps what is built.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-build-ai-end.en.webp (Undo this turn, under the turn.)

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-build-ai-end-phone.en.webp (Undo this turn on a phone.)

You should see: The canvas holds the flow, tidy; the bar says Ready to go live, or what is left to fix (a link it left empty for you).

Step 5 of 5: Save it.

Where: Save, the green button at the top right. Changes stay a draft until you press it; the Live switch beside it decides whether it runs at once.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-build-ai.en.webp (Save, green while the build is not saved yet.)

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-flow-edited-phone.en.webp (Save on a phone, green while there is something to keep.)

You should see: Saved. It's live on your page (or Saved as a draft). The chat stays with the flow for the next change.

If something is off

Problem: It left a link empty

Fix: On purpose: it never invents a link. The pill on the canvas counts it as a thing to fix; press it and paste your link into the button.

Problem: That's 60 builds today

Fix: The trial allows 60 builds a day. Try again tomorrow, or edit the flow by hand meanwhile. A paid plan has no daily limit.

Problem: Not enough AI credits for this build

Fix: Add credits or move up a plan, then send the message again. A failed call costs nothing.

Problem: It stopped mid-way

Fix: One build makes at most 60 changes and runs at most 4 minutes, and one message uses at most 100 AI credits. What is built stays on the canvas; say carry on and it goes on.
