Do my moderation rules run on ad comments as well as post comments?
Yes. Ad comments are moderated exactly like post comments: the same rules, the same actions. Set the page's Apply moderation to control to Ads only if you want the rules to run under your ads and leave organic posts alone.
How do I see only the comments that came from my ads?
In the inbox, open Filters, Type, Ads. Every comment that came in through a paid post is there, each marked with the Ad chip.
Do Facebook's profanity filter or Instagram's Hidden Words apply under ads?
Yes. Meta says these filters are set at the Facebook Page or Instagram account level and extend to ads from that Page or account. Comments Instagram's filter catches first arrive in CommentWatchDog labelled as hidden outside the app.

Context: Comments on ads are comments on the post the ad runs. You can hide, delete and reply to them the same way, and your page word filters apply to them. Turning comments off entirely is not generally available.

3. A comment-off control exists for some accounts and objectives only, not as a general setting.

Step 1 of 3: Find your ad comments.
Where: The inbox, Filters, Type, Ads. Every comment that came in through a paid post is there.

Step 2 of 3: Moderate them like any others.
Where: The same rules, the same actions. Setting your page moderation scope to Ads only concentrates the rules where the money is.

Step 3 of 3: Know the limits.
Where: Meta does not offer a general switch to turn comments off on ads. Some accounts and objectives have a comment control in Ads Manager, but it is not something every advertiser has.
You should see: A realistic expectation: moderate them, rather than prevent them.
If something is off
Problem: An old ad comment cannot be replied to
Fix: Meta refuses replies on some comments under ads that have stopped running. The row keeps the error.
Problem: Comments on my ad are not marked as ads
Fix: Meta reports the source; a stopped ad can lose the marker.
Problem: Can I stop comments on ads
Fix: Not as a general setting. Moderation is the reliable answer.
