How to bulk delete comments in Meta Business Suite

As of September 23, 2026, Meta Business Suite has no bulk delete for comments. Its inbox lists every comment on your Facebook posts and ads in one place and removes them one at a time, through Options and then Delete, with no select-all and no way to delete multiple comments in one click.

The screens below are from my own Business Suite inbox, and the counts are from my own Facebook ads this month. Meta's steps come from its help pages, quoted with the date I read them.

Below: what the inbox lets you do with a comment, Meta's own delete steps, why there is no select-all and what Spam and Done really do, the inbox link that fails in every tool, the bulk path that cleared 270 comments under one of my ads in under nine minutes, and when to hide instead.

What the Business Suite inbox does with a comment

Meta's page on the inbox, read September 23, 2026, opens with the scope: "You can react and reply to comments on your Facebook Page and Instagram account posts in Meta Business Suite." One condition comes first: "You need community activity permissions for a Facebook Page or Instagram account to be able to review and respond to comments on its posts."

Inside the Facebook comments tab, Meta lists what a single comment offers:

• react, by hovering over Like
• reply, with Enter to send
• message the person, through Send message
• delete: "To delete the comment, click Options then select Delete."
• hide: "To hide the comment, click Options then select Hide comment."
• report: "To report the comment, click Options then select Report comment."

Every line is written for one comment. The post list on the left has its own two actions, in Meta's words: "You can also hover over your Facebook Page posts on the left, and then click either Move to done or Follow up."

How to delete a comment in Meta Business Suite

These are Meta's steps for the desktop inbox, read September 23, 2026, with what I see on my own account.

1. Open Meta Business Suite and click Inbox in the left menu. Meta adds: "Make sure you're looking at the right Facebook Page."

2. "Click the Facebook comments tab at the top of Inbox." The tabs on my account are All messages, Messenger, Instagram, Facebook comments and Instagram comments.

3. Click the post in the left list. Meta: "A list of your Page's posts appears. Click individual posts to see their comments." The filters above the list are Unread, Follow up, Page comments, Group comments, Done and Spam.

4. Hover over the comment and click its Options menu, the three dots.

5. Select Delete. Facebook's page on deleting from a Page post, read September 5, 2026, says what happens: "the comment will be removed from the post."

Then the next comment, and the next. On the post in the frame above that is 60 rounds of three clicks, and on the ad that had 302 comments in my library it is more than 900.

Why there is no select-all, and what Spam and Done do

Meta's pages describe three ways to sort the inbox, and none of them touches the post. The best-practices page for comment moderation, read September 23, 2026, puts them together: "Once you have taken action on any given comment, you can click Move to done. You can also click Mark as unread, Mark as spam or Follow up if you want to come back to it later."

The Spam filter is defined on the inbox page as "Comments that have been identified as spam", and Done as "Posts that have been marked as needing no further action." A comment you mark as spam leaves your working list. Nothing on those pages says it leaves the post, so I treat the Spam folder as a folder.

Hiding is different from deleting in one way that matters under an ad. Meta's own line: "The person whose comment you hide won't know you've hidden their comment and will still be able to see their comment on your post, as will their friends."

The inbox link is not the post link

On September 22, 2026, I copied the address of a post from the Business Suite inbox and pasted it into my own cleanup tool. It looks like this: business.facebook.com/latest/inbox/facebook?asset_id=…&business_id=…&mailbox_id=…&selected_item_id=…. The tool refused it.

The reason is in the address. The only Page-side id in it is the Page itself; the number after selected_item_id is Meta's own inbox item, and Meta's API has nothing that turns that id into a post. Any tool that takes a link, mine included, needs the post's own link, which the inbox never shows in the address bar.

The post link is two clicks away inside the inbox:

• under the post in the right pane, click the share arrow
• in the Share window, click Copy link

That link opens the post on Facebook and works in every tool. Since September 23, 2026, Post cleanup recognises an inbox link and shows those two clicks instead of an error, because I had made the same mistake.

How to bulk delete the comments with Post cleanup

2. Click Check comments. Every comment is read against your rules and the AI, and gets a chip: Keyword, Emoji, Negativity, Email & phone, URL, or Clean. Browsing, searching and filtering cost nothing; the check is what uses credits.

3. Click the Flagged chip, tick the box at the top of the list to select every flagged comment, and click Delete. The confirmation says what you are doing: removed from the post for everyone, replies go with their comment, no undo. Hide is the button beside it. The guide: delete or hide comments in bulk.

4. Let the task run. Deletes go to Meta at the pace Meta allows, so a big batch pauses and resumes on its own, keeps going with the page closed, and emails you when it is done. Pause, resume or stop it from the tasks card. The guide: follow a task.

The post stays in your library afterwards with its check history, so the next wave under the same ad is a Refresh and a second run, not a second setup.

What it did under my own ads this month

My three Facebook Pages received 792 comments between September 1 and 23, 2026, 720 of them under ads. 638 were deleted and 9 hidden. 127 of the deletions were done by hand from the inbox, three clicks each, which is close to 400 clicks for one month of one advertiser.

The rest of the removing was bulk. Post cleanup ran 38 delete jobs on my Pages in the same window, 1,444 comments in all, on six separate days. The median run was 14 comments and nine runs were 50 or more.

The largest run was on September 23, 2026: 270 comments under one WhatChimp ad, done in 520 seconds. Of the 270, 126 were emoji-only pastes, 76 carried a link, 29 a phone number or email, 23 a hashtag, 13 matched my own custom rule and one was negativity. The same job by hand in the inbox would have been 810 clicks.

Two earlier runs show the other side of the pace line: 236 comments on September 18 took an hour and 49 minutes, and 153 on September 3 took four and a half hours, because Meta throttled the deletes and the task waited instead of failing. Every one of those comments was removed; nothing had to be retried by hand.

Delete or hide, from the inbox

For a post or ad I am still paying to show, my rule is short. Delete the comment nobody should read again: a scam number, a link to a fake store, a follow-bait paste, an insult. Hide the competitor pitch and the pile-on that a real customer might still be part of, since hiding is reversible and the author never learns.

Answer the questions. In the frame above, "What is the plans and package", "Is there trial" and "Do you have API ?" sit between the spam, and each one is a buyer the ad paid for. A bulk delete that takes them with the junk costs more than the spam did.

Facebook and Instagram comments in the same inbox

The Instagram half of Meta's inbox page follows the same shape, with three differences worth knowing before you clean an Instagram post from Business Suite:

• the tab is Instagram comments, and Meta lists delete, reply, react and message, with no hide line for Instagram on that page
• "You can't send a message in response to comments posted more than 7 days ago."
• the filters are Unread, Follow up, Done and Spam, without the Page comments and Group comments split

Post cleanup takes an Instagram post or reel link the same way as a Facebook one.

Common questions

Can I select all comments in Meta Business Suite?

Not as of September 23, 2026. Meta's page on the inbox documents delete, hide and report per comment, through the comment's Options menu, and its pages on inbox tools describe labels, notes, assignment and Move to done, never a selection of several comments.

Does Mark as spam delete the comment?

Meta lists Mark as spam beside Move to done, Mark as unread and Follow up as ways to "organize the comments", and defines the Spam filter as "Comments that have been identified as spam". Nothing on those pages says the comment leaves the post, so treat it as an inbox folder, not a removal.

Why does the link from the Business Suite inbox not work in a cleanup tool?

The address bar carries the inbox item's own id, not the post's, and Meta's API cannot turn that id into a post. Click the share arrow under the post inside the inbox, then Copy link, and paste that.

Should I delete or hide the spam under my posts?
