Result when done: Handled comments leave your inbox by themselves.

Context: An automation can archive the comment once it has replied, or archive without replying at all. Both keep the inbox as a list of things that still need a person.

Before you start

1. Archiving changes nothing on Facebook or Instagram.

2. An archived comment keeps its reply and its chips, and can be unarchived.

3. Archive without a reply is the right action for emoji-only comments.

Steps

Step 1 of 3: Switch on Archive after replying.

Where: In the automation editor, under the reply settings.

You should see: A replied comment moves to the Archive as soon as the reply goes out.

Step 2 of 3: Or archive without replying.

Where: Set the action to Archive instead of Reply. With the emoji trigger, this quietly clears the noise while keeping every comment.

You should see: The comment leaves the Inbox and is kept in the Archive.

Step 3 of 3: Check the Archive.

Where: The Archive tab in the inbox. Everything the automation handled is there, with its reply attached.

You should see: A record of what was answered automatically, ready to unarchive if you want it back.

If something is off

Problem: Comments vanish from my inbox

Fix: An automation is archiving them. The Archive holds them, and the automation list says which one.

Problem: I want to see them but not act

Fix: Turn off Archive after replying; the reply still goes out.

Problem: An archived comment got a new reply

Fix: A new comment on the same post is a new row; the old one stays archived.

Question: Does archiving a comment hide it on Facebook or Instagram?

Answer: No. Archiving changes nothing on Facebook or Instagram; it only moves the comment out of your CommentWatchDog inbox into the Archive, where it is kept.

Question: Can I bring back a comment an automation archived?

Answer: Yes. An archived comment keeps its reply and its chips and can be unarchived. Open the Archive tab in the inbox, where everything the automation handled is listed with its reply attached.

Question: Can an automation archive a comment without replying to it?
