Guide: We lost access to your page
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/troubleshooting/we-lost-access-to-your-page
Topic: Troubleshooting
Time: about 2 minutes
Who can do it: Owner or Administrator
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/settings/pages
Result when done: You know what that message means and which account has to fix it.
Context: This is the same condition as a disconnected page, said in the words of the alert you received. The access token for that page stopped working, so nothing can be read or changed on it.

Before you start:
1. The alert arrives by email or push, and the Pages tab shows the same thing.
2. The fix is a reconnect by an owner or an administrator.
3. The account that reconnects has to manage that Page on Facebook.

Steps:
Step 1 of 2: Check which pages are affected.
Where: Settings, Pages. The banner counts them and each row is marked.

You should see: Exactly which pages stopped, rather than a general warning.

Step 2 of 2: Reconnect with the right account.
Where: Reconnect Facebook, signed in as the Facebook account that manages those Pages. If your colleague connected them, they should do it.

You should see: Connected as, and the pages receiving comments again.

If something is off:
Problem: I reconnected and it happened again
Fix: Someone may be removing the app in Facebook Business integrations, or the account lost its Page role.
Problem: I do not manage the Page on Facebook
Fix: Ask the person who does to reconnect, or have them give your account access.
Problem: Comments during the outage
Fix: They were not collected. Load the posts in cleanup to fetch them.

Common questions:
Question: Is "We lost access to your page" the same as a page showing Disconnected?
Answer: Yes. It is the same condition, said in the words of the alert you received: the access token for that page stopped working, so nothing can be read or changed on it until an owner or an administrator reconnects.
Question: Where does the lost access alert arrive?
Answer: By email or push. The Pages tab under Settings shows the same thing: a banner counts the affected pages and each row is marked, so you see exactly which pages stopped rather than a general warning.
Question: Can CommentWatchDog still read comments on a page after losing access to it?
Answer: No. Once the access token for that page stops working, nothing can be read or changed on it. After Reconnect Facebook the page shows Connected as again and comments start arriving.
Question: Can any Facebook account reconnect the page?
Answer: No. The account that reconnects has to manage that Page on Facebook, so if a colleague connected the pages they should do it, signed in as that account. Inside CommentWatchDog the reconnect is done by an owner or an administrator.
