Guide: Find anyone your automations talked to
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/people/find-anyone-your-automations-talked-to
Topic: People
Time: about 3 minutes
Who can do it: Owner, Administrator or Manager
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox/people
Result when done: You can find a contact by name, email, phone, tag, where they came from, or any rule a flow can check.
Context: People lists everyone an automation reached or heard from: per page, across every page, or per brand group. Each row shows the person, the automation that brought them, the email and phone they gave you, their tags, their reply window and when they were last active. Search, the views on the left, the tags and the Filter narrow it; a filter you will use again can be saved as a segment.

Before you start:
1. Contacts are unlimited on every plan; nobody is charged per contact.
2. People is its own tab on each page, and under All pages for every page at once.
3. A filter uses the same checks as a flow's Condition.

Steps:
Step 1 of 5: Open People.
Where: Left sidebar, a page, then the People tab; All pages has the same tab for every page at once. Contacts, Tags and Fields sit in a switch at the top: this guide stays on Contacts.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-phone.en.webp (The People tab on a phone: the search, then one person per row.)
You should see: Everyone your automations reached, newest first: Person, Email, Phone, Tags, Reply window and Last active. Columns chooses which of them show.

Step 2 of 5: Search by name, email or number.
Where: Search names, emails, numbers, above the list. It finds a name, a username, an email address or a phone number; spaces in a number are ignored.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)
You should see: The list narrows to who matches; the count beside the title follows.

Step 3 of 5: Pick a view, a tag or where they came from.
Where: The rail on the left. Under Contacts: Everyone, Can message now, Shared an email, Shared a phone, Follow you and Asked to stop. Under Tags: each of your tags. Under Came from: each automation or link that brought people in. Click one and the list shows only those people. On a phone the same list opens from the title above the search.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-filter-phone.en.webp (On a phone the title holds the views; here one tag is picked.)
You should see: The title becomes what you picked, with its count.

Step 4 of 5: Filter by any rule, and save it as a segment.
Where: Filter, beside the search, opens Filter people. Add a rule (a tag, an answer or field, email, phone, follows you, verified, follower count, reply window open, days since first seen, name or username) and choose whether every rule or any one must match. Save it as a segment keeps it in the rail, under Segments.

Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-phone.en.webp (On a phone, Filter sits under the search.)
Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-filter-open.en.webp (Filter people: two rules, who matches, and Save it as a segment.)
Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-filter-open-phone.en.webp (The same on a phone.)
You should see: A count of who matches, and the list behind the filter updating as you go.

Step 5 of 5: Act on the people you found.
Where: Tick the rows you want (the box in the table's header ticks them all), then Actions: Add a tag, Remove a tag, Update a field, Pause automations, Resume automations, Copy emails, Export and Forget, the last two with the number of people. With every row ticked you can extend the selection to everyone the view or filter matches, up to 5,000 people at once.
Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-select.en.webp (Two rows ticked, Actions open.)
Screenshot: https://commentwatchdog.com/media/shots/dm-people-select-phone.en.webp (On a phone, Actions opens the same list as a sheet.)
You should see: A toast says what changed, for example 2 people tagged.

If something is off:
Problem: Someone I talked to is not here
Fix: People lists those an automation reached or heard from. A chat you only answered by hand is in Messages, not here.
Problem: Nobody matches this filter
Fix: Change a rule or clear the filter. A fact that is not known never matches either way: someone never asked about following is neither a follower nor not one.
Problem: No one yet
Fix: People appear the moment an automation reaches someone. Switch one on and the first person it reaches shows up here.

Common questions:
Question: Is there a limit on contacts?
Answer: No. Contacts are unlimited on every plan and there is no price per contact. A fair-use line of 100,000 people reached a month alerts us and stops nothing.
Question: Can I send a message to everyone on a list?
Answer: No. There are no broadcasts: Meta only allows a page to message someone within 24 hours of their last message. People is for finding, tagging, exporting and pausing.
Question: Can I save a filter?
Answer: Yes. Build it with Filter and save it as a segment; it stays in the left rail. Up to 50 segments.
