Guide: Remove a device
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/notifications/remove-a-device
Topic: Notifications and the phone app
Time: about 2 minutes
Who can do it: Anyone on your team
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/settings/notifications?tab=device
Result when done: A phone or a computer you no longer use stops receiving your notifications.
Context: Every device that has notifications on is listed, with when it was added and when it last opened the app. Removing one takes it out of the list and it receives nothing more.

Before you start:
1. The list shows only devices that have notifications turned on.
2. Removing a device does not sign anyone out.
3. The device can be added again by turning notifications on there.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Open the device list.
Where: Settings, Notifications, This device. The other devices are listed above the card for the one you are on.

You should see: Each device with its platform, its name, when it was added and when it last opened the app.

Step 2 of 3: Remove the one you do not use.
Where: Remove, on its row.

You should see: It leaves the list and receives no further notifications.

Step 3 of 3: Rename the ones you keep.
Where: The pencil beside a device name. Useful when you have two of the same kind.

You should see: A list you can read at a glance.

If something is off:
Problem: The device came back
Fix: Someone opened the app on it and turned notifications on again.
Problem: I removed the wrong one
Fix: Open the app on that device and turn notifications on again.
Problem: A device I do not recognise
Fix: Remove it, then change your password from the Profile tab.

Common questions:
Question: Does removing a device sign me out of CommentWatchDog on it?
Answer: No. Removing a device only takes it out of the notification list so it receives nothing more. It can be added again by turning notifications on from that device.
Question: Why is a device I use missing from the device list?
Answer: The list shows only devices that have notifications turned on. Turn notifications on from that device and it appears with its platform, its name, when it was added and when it last opened the app.
Question: Can I give a device a different name in the list?
Answer: Yes. Use the pencil beside the device name on Settings, Notifications, This device. It helps when you have two devices of the same kind.
