Guide: Messages on a phone
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/messages/messages-on-a-phone
Topic: Messages
Time: about 2 minutes
Who can do it: Anyone on your team
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox
Result when done: You can answer a customer from your phone as fast as from your desk.
Context: On a phone the conversation list and the thread are two screens rather than two columns, and the extra actions live in one sheet.

Before you start:
1. The gestures are shown once, the first time you open Messages on a phone.
2. Push notifications tell you when a customer writes, which is what keeps you inside the reply window.
3. Everything here also exists on a computer.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Move between the list and a thread.
Where: The Messages tab in the bottom bar shows the conversations; tapping one opens the thread; All conversations goes back.

You should see: The thread, with the composer at the bottom and the reply window above it.

Step 2 of 3: Use the More sheet.
Where: More, beside the composer: send a photo, send a GIF, record a voice message, translate into the customer language.

You should see: The same actions as the desktop composer, named in words.

Step 3 of 3: Swipe and hold.
Where: Swipe a conversation to archive it. Press and hold for the rest.

You should see: The action runs with an Undo, exactly as in the comment inbox.

If something is off:
Problem: I cannot find the GIF button
Fix: It is in the More sheet on a phone.
Problem: The keyboard covers the thread
Fix: The thread scrolls under the keyboard; tap outside the box to close it.
Problem: I miss messages when the app is closed
Fix: Install the app and turn on notifications for customer messages.

Common questions:
Question: Can I do everything with messages on my phone that I can on a computer?
Answer: Yes. The list and the thread are two screens instead of two columns, and More beside the composer holds the same actions as the desktop composer: photo, GIF, voice message and translate.
Question: How do I archive a message conversation on my phone?
Answer: Swipe the conversation. The action runs with an Undo, exactly as in the comment inbox; press and hold for the rest of the actions.
Question: Do the gesture tips show every time I open Messages on my phone?
Answer: No. They are shown once, the first time you open Messages on a phone.
Question: How do I get back to the conversation list from a thread on my phone?
Answer: Tap All conversations. The Messages tab in the bottom bar shows the list, and tapping a conversation opens the thread on top of it.
