Guide: Archive one or all conversations
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/messages/archive-one-or-all-conversations
Topic: Messages
Time: about 2 minutes
Who can do it: Anyone on your team
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox
Result when done: Your message list holds the conversations that still need you.
Context: Archiving a conversation moves it out of the list. Nothing changes on Messenger or Instagram, and the conversation comes back the moment the person writes again.

Before you start:
1. Archiving changes nothing for the customer.
2. A conversation returns to the inbox when they write again.
3. Archive all clears a backlog on a page you have taken over.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Archive one conversation.
Where: The archive control on the conversation, or a swipe on a phone. An Undo appears for a few seconds.

You should see: It leaves the list and is kept in the Archive tab.

Step 2 of 3: Read the Archive.
Where: The Archive tab beside Inbox in Messages. Everything you archived is there with its full history.

You should see: The conversations you have finished with, ready to unarchive.

Step 3 of 3: Clear a backlog with Archive all.
Where: Archive all, above the list. The confirmation names how many conversations it will archive, and says they come back when the customer writes again.

You should see: An empty inbox, with everything kept in the Archive.

If something is off:
Problem: An archived conversation is back
Fix: The customer wrote again. That is by design, so a new message is never missed.
Problem: I archived everything by accident
Fix: The Archive tab holds them all; unarchive the ones you need.
Problem: Does the customer know
Fix: No. Archiving is only your filing.

Common questions:
Question: Is an archived conversation deleted?
Answer: No. It is kept in the Archive tab with its full history, nothing changes on Messenger or Instagram, and it returns to the inbox the moment the person writes again.
Question: Can I undo archiving a conversation?
Answer: Yes. An Undo appears for a few seconds after you archive, and after that you can unarchive it from the Archive tab beside Inbox.
Question: Does Archive all tell me how many conversations it will archive?
Answer: Yes. The confirmation names how many conversations it will archive and says they come back when the customer writes again.
