Result when done: You can see the day a campaign started, or the day the spam did.
Context: The chart shows activity day by day across the period. It is the fastest way to connect a spike in comments with something you did, or something someone else did to you.

Before you start:
1. Each column is one day inside your range.
2. The chart follows the source you picked, so a sweep does not create a false spike.
3. Hovering a day shows its numbers.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Read the shape.
Where: Daily activity, under the counts. Look for the days that stand out rather than the exact heights.

You should see: A column per day, with the busy days obvious.

Step 2 of 3: Hover a day for its numbers.
Where: On the chart. The tooltip gives the total for that day and the split.

You should see: The exact numbers behind the shape.

Step 3 of 3: Explain a spike.
Where: Take the date to the inbox, filter to that day, and read what arrived. An ad going live, a post being shared, or one spam campaign are the usual causes.

You should see: The comments behind the spike, which usually explains it in a minute.

If something is off:
Problem: The chart is flat
Fix: The period is quiet, or the source is set to Post cleanup and no sweeps ran.
Problem: One day is enormous
Fix: Usually an ad launch or a spam wave. Filter the inbox to that day to see which.
Problem: There are gaps
Fix: A day with no comments has no column.

Common questions:
Question: How do I see the exact numbers for one day on the chart?
Answer: Hover the column: the tooltip gives the total for that day and the split. On a phone, tap the day.
Question: Does the chart show hours or days?
Answer: Days. Each column is one day inside your range, under Daily activity beneath the counts, and the busy days stand out from the shape.
Question: Does a bulk cleanup show up as a spike on the chart?
Answer: Not while Source is set to Live moderation. The chart follows the source you picked, so a sweep does not create a false spike; switch Source to Post cleanup or All to see it.
