Result when done: You know what each icon under a comment does before you press it.
Context: Under every comment is one row of actions. The same row appears on a phone as a sheet when you press and hold. Nothing here asks twice except deleting, which is permanent.

Before you start:
1. Which actions appear depends on the comment: an Instagram comment has no Like, and a comment with no post attached has no preview.
2. Hiding, unhiding, archiving and liking can all be undone. Deleting cannot.
3. Moderators can act on comments; changing rules and settings needs a manager or an administrator.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Learn the row.
Where: Under the comment text, from the start: Translate, Like as your page, Reply, Hide, Delete, Archive, Block or mute the author, and Preview the post. Each has a tooltip naming exactly what it does, including who still sees a hidden comment.

You should see: Hovering any icon names the action and its consequence, so nothing is guessed.

Step 2 of 3: Preview the post behind a comment.
Where: The preview icon at the end of the row. It opens the post beside the comment: the text, how many comments it has, how many were flagged and removed, when it was last checked, and a button to clean up every comment on it. Copy comment ID is in the same panel.

You should see: You can judge a comment against the post it belongs to without leaving the inbox.

Step 3 of 3: Open the comment on the platform.
Where: Open the comment on Facebook, in the row or the preview panel, goes to the comment in place. Use it when you need to do something CommentWatchDog does not do, such as pinning a comment or reporting a profile.

You should see: The post opens on Facebook or Instagram at that comment, in a new tab.

If something is off:
Problem: There is no Like icon
Fix: The comment is on Instagram. Meta does not let an app like an Instagram comment on behalf of an account.
Problem: Preview says the post no longer exists
Fix: The post was deleted on the platform. The comment stays here as a record.
Problem: An action did nothing
Fix: Meta may be limiting actions for a moment. A queued chip appears and the action finishes on its own; you can follow it under Tasks.
Problem: I cannot see the delete icon
Fix: You are a moderator on a page where deleting is restricted, or the comment is already deleted and you are looking at the Bin.

Common questions:
Question: Can a moderator hide, delete and reply to comments?
Answer: Yes. Moderators can act on comments; changing rules and settings needs a manager or an administrator. On a page where deleting is restricted, a moderator does not see the delete icon.
Question: Which actions on a comment can be undone?
Answer: Hiding, unhiding, archiving and liking can all be undone. Deleting cannot, on either platform, which is why it is the only action in the row that asks you to confirm.
Question: Can I pin a comment or report a profile from CommentWatchDog?
Answer: No. Use Open the comment on Facebook, in the row or in the preview panel. It opens the post on Facebook or Instagram at that comment in a new tab, where you can do what CommentWatchDog does not do, such as pinning or reporting.
Question: Where do I find a comment's ID?
Answer: Copy comment ID is in the preview panel, opened with the preview icon at the end of the action row. The same panel shows the post beside the comment, its comment count, how many were flagged and removed, and a button to clean up every comment on it.
