Guide: Archive and unarchive
This page: https://commentwatchdog.com/help/inbox/archive-and-unarchive
Topic: Inbox and comments
Time: about 2 minutes
Who can do it: Anyone on your team
Author: https://anantgupta.xyz (Anant Gupta, founder of CommentWatchDog)
Start in the app: https://app.commentwatchdog.com/en/inbox?tab=archive
Result when done: Your inbox holds only what still needs you, and nothing is ever lost.
Context: Archiving is your own filing, not a platform action. Nothing changes on Facebook or Instagram; the comment moves out of the Inbox and into the Archive, with its replies and chips intact.

Before you start:
1. Archiving changes nothing on the platform: the comment is still under the post.
2. A comment can be archived by you, by Reply and archive, or by an agent or automation set to archive after replying.
3. Unarchive puts it back in the Inbox.

Steps:
Step 1 of 3: Archive a comment.
Where: The archive icon under the comment, Archive in the phone sheet, or a swipe on a phone. Reply and archive does both in one move when you are answering.

You should see: The row leaves the Inbox, the Archive count goes up, and an Undo appears for a few seconds.

Step 2 of 3: Read the Archive.
Where: The Archive tab above the list. Everything you have finished with, searchable and filterable like the Inbox, with the replies you sent still attached.

You should see: Nothing is deleted here. It is your record of what has been dealt with.

Step 3 of 3: Bring one back.
Where: The unarchive icon on a row in the Archive, or select several and use Unarchive comments in bulk actions.

You should see: The comment is in the Inbox again, exactly as it was.

If something is off:
Problem: Comments archive themselves
Fix: An agent or a keyword automation on that page is set to archive after replying. Change it on the page Automation or AI agents tab.
Problem: Archiving hid the comment
Fix: It did not. Archiving is only filing; check the Visibility filter, something else hid it.
Problem: I archived hundreds by accident
Fix: Filter the Archive by date, select them and use Unarchive comments in bulk actions.
Problem: The Archive count looks wrong
Fix: The count is for the whole tab, the list obeys your filters. Clear filters to compare.

Common questions:
Question: Does archiving a comment remove it from Facebook or Instagram?
Answer: No. Archiving is your own filing, not a platform action. The comment is still under the post; it only moves out of the Inbox into the Archive, with its replies and chips intact.
Question: Can I undo an archive?
Answer: Yes. An Undo appears for a few seconds right after you archive. Later, the unarchive icon on the row in the Archive, or Unarchive comments in bulk actions, puts it back in the Inbox exactly as it was.
Question: Do archived comments keep the replies I sent?
Answer: Yes. The Archive holds everything you have finished with, searchable and filterable like the Inbox, with the replies you sent still attached. Nothing is deleted there.
Question: How do I archive a comment on a phone?
Answer: Swipe the comment sideways and let go on Archive, or press and hold the row and choose Archive from the sheet. Reply and archive in the composer does both in one move when you are answering.
